420 World Championship 2004 - Sail Melbourne to host the 420 Worlds 2004
MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA-(23-6-2003) Mornington Yacht Club will host this regatta and with approximately 150 boats expected to compete for a place in the World Championships there will be some tight racing in the waters off Schnapper Point.

Located at the top of the Mornington Peninsula there is plenty to see and do for those accompanying the competitors, winery tours, art galleries and short bush walks are just a few of the local attractions.

The National Championship which precedes the Worlds will be the qualifying event for the Australian sailors and with 14 places available to the host nation competition for the spots will be intense.

The class has a strong youth focus, being ideal preparation for the Olympic 470.

For those that miss out on a place in the World Championships one of the local yacht clubs will host a Non-Worlds Regatta to provide further competition for the sailors

Just issued and available on the Sail Melbourne website is the updated Notice of Race for the 420 World Championships. The regatta will be held at the Mornington Yacht Club, a short drive from Melbourne and located on the picturesque Mornington Peninsula.

Sailed on the world famous Port Phillip Bay with regular sea breezes averaging 15 knots, water temperature of 20C and daily air temperature between 25C and 30C, it is the best place to sail in Australia. Combined with plenty of accommodation options and a host of other things to do for the whole family; it is the perfect destination.
